ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
The worst kept secret in football is finally out in the open, with Real Madrid confirming that Mbappe has now signed for the club. WHAT REAL MADRID SAID

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The move has been long in the making with the French superstar having been linked with Los Blancos almost every single year, if not every single transfer window since U-turning on a move in 2022. The 25-year-old will now finally make the move as a free agent but has reportedly taken a pay-cut to join Ancelotti's men. However, he is still expected to be the club's highest-paid player, with estimated earnings of €15m (£13m/$16m) to €20m (£17m/$22m) per year.

WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?
The 25-year-old has already joined the French national team camp ahead of their European Championship campaign and will be hoping for more glory before linking up with his new team-mates at the Santiago Bernabeu.
